In sapphires, purple color often comes with a pink or (less commonly) orange overtone…or, very much less desirable, with an overcast of gray or brown. This rare example shows an utterly pure hue of purple of vivid saturation without any noticeable modifier – perhaps with the exception of subtle red flashes visible especially under incandescent light, making it resemble the finest Siberian amethyst, just with the superior luster and brilliance that comes with the higher light dispersion of sapphire. Completely eye clean and with a well-engineered, positively ‘spready’ cut, this purple sapphire is suitable for a ring or pendant alike.
